Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge?
In-home Personal Training sessions cost $75 per hour. Please visit the How It Works page for more information.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard are all acceptable forms of payment. Checks should be payable to Target Fitness by Robyn Barnes.
What are your qualifications and what certifications do you have?
In addition to earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences, I have been certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer. I am also a certified Golf Conditioning Specialist through GMP Fitness, and I am a Moms in Motion (pre and postnatal fitness) certified instructor through SCW Fitness Education. For more background information, please see the About Your Trainer page.
Do you have liability insurance coverage?
Yes. The policy I have covers me no matter where we are training together.
How many times a week should I exercise?
Well, the US Surgeon General recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise on most days of the week. So what does that really mean? I’ll need to know more about you before I can really say what that means for you. My recommendations are specific to each individual, their goals, and their current fitness level. Contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation so I can get more info about you and advise you about how much exercise you need to do to reach your goals.
What equipment do I need to have or purchase?
NONE! I have basic equipment that I will bring to our sessions. Most of my clients eventually buy some equipment so that they can do their workouts when they are not with their trainer. Please see the links on the right side of the screen for the types of equipment that I use and suggest.
Where will we meet for my workouts?
Where is the most convenient place for you to exercise? Most people choose to meet at their home, but we may be able to workout at your office if space allows. I’m also happy to hold session outside at a local park if that’s more motivating for you. I am also able to train you at the Fitness Center at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando (www.fpco.org/rec), however you’ll need to purchase a membership there first.
Can I workout with a friend?
Exercising with a friend is a great way to have fun and stick to your program! If your partner is relying on you, then you’ll be more accountable to show up for your sessions with me and to workout on your own. The best part is that you can workout with a friend or significant other and pay less for your training sessions. Please see the How It Works page for more details.
What if I need to cancel one of my sessions?
You may cancel or reschedule a session with at least 24 hours notice. If you give less than 24 hours notice, you will have to pay for the missed session. This policy is in place to hold you accountable for your workouts and as a courtesy to your trainer. Most Personal Trainers have a similar, if not identical, requirement.
What if I have to miss a session because of an emergency?
These situations are determined on a case-by-case basis. You cannot cancel a session at the last minute because you forgot about a meeting that you must attend. However, if there is a true emergency we will do everything we can to reschedule your session.
What is your refund policy?
Refunds are given only if you obtain a letter from your physician stating that you are no longer permitted to exercise in any way, shape, or form. Your sessions are transferable to another individual in the event that you no longer wish to continue training with Target Fitness.
Will you tell me what to eat?
I can provide you with basic nutritional information if you would like it. In most cases, I believe you already know what types of food you should and should not be eating. But knowing and doing are two different things! Keeping a food journal that we can review together is often helpful. Feel free to ask me specific questions and I will help you get the answers, either by doing research myself or helping you get in touch with a registered dietician if necessary.
Is my health information confidential?
Yes. Any information pertaining to health conditions and information obtained through the PAR-Q questionnaire is confidential.
Can I purchase a Gift Certificate for someone else?
You sure can! I would recommend purchasing anywhere from four to eight sessions to get them started and then they can take over from there. Contact me for more information.
