Moms in Motion
What is it? Moms In Motion is an exercise program designed to prepare women for the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and postpartum. By developing stamina, increasing your strength, and improving your muscle tone, you will be better equipped to handle the rigors of motherhood, as well as feeling better about your body!
What is the format of the class? Each one hour class will include approximately 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise and 15 minutes of toning work with appropriate warm-ups and cool downs. The exercises are designed to make labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery easier.
Who should participate? The class is designed specifically for pregnant and postpartum women. You may begin class as soon as you become pregnant and you may participate throughout your entire pregnancy with your doctor’s approval. Once your baby is born, you must again receive approval from your doctor to resume participation. Women can usually return to class 4-6 weeks after a vaginal delivery and 6-8 weeks after a cesarean birth.
When and where are the classes held?
Classes will be held each Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando Fitness Center, located at 106 East Church Street. Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:30am at Pump n' Run Studio in Maitland, Fl.
How much does it cost? Choose your package, pay in advance and begin attending class!
- Single class -- $20
- 8 classes (4 weeks) -- $120
- 16 classes (8 weeks) -- $192
- 24 classes (12 weeks) -- $216
What should I bring to class? A doctor’s release is required for all participants. Please bring a bottle of water, a small towel, and a snack to eat after class.
Eat before class, too. A nutritious snack of complex carbohydrates (fruit, bread, crackers, cereal, pasta, etc.) should be consumed one to two hours before class to maintain healthy blood sugar levels during your exercise session.
Are there times when I should not exercise? You should absolutely not exercise if you are sick, injured, bleeding, or experiencing pelvic or abdominal pain. If you are having any of these problems, you need to let your healthcare provider know. Regardless of how you are feeling, please continue to talk with your doctor about exercise for the duration of your pregnancy and postpartum!
